Are you still Conducting Business like the 1990s?
I was parked at a red light the other day and there was a bench sign on the sidewalk that read: “You just proved that bench advertising works.” Wait! What just happened? I had to put my thoughts back together from that very disturbing bench advert. My dear readers, don’t be fooled by those old-fogy traditional adverting firms that are trying to stay afloat in the digital world. Billboards are just like websites … you put one up and cross your fingers that the right person will come across it.
Times have changed and so must you! The digital world has transformed every aspect of our lives, including the way we do business. Getting in front of customers today is very different. In today’s digital world, traditional methods cannot get you the results you need to grow and be vibrant.
Ask yourself the following questions:
- When was the last time you picked up a magazine to look for a service you needed?
- When was the last time a billboard influenced your decision to buy?
- When was the last time you used the Yellow Pages to find a business?
Think about this: assuming that the driver of the car has his/her eyes on the road … what are the other passengers doing? Personally, when I’m driving, my 7-year old is on his iPad; my 18-year-old is on his phone, and my wife is reading funny memes to me from her social media feed. Not a single passenger in my car is looking at the road. As for me, well, put it this way: I’m looking forward to the day when self-driving cars will take-over the roads and I can binge watch while driving to work.
What is Digital Marketing?
Digital Marketing is the strategic and deliberate attempt to make your business visible online by targeting those consumers that are seeking your product or interested in what you have to offer. Without an effective digital marketing and digital optimization plan, your business will never have the competitive edge it needs to thrive and grow in the digital world.
I’m not sure if you caught it, so let me say it again but a little differently: Digital marketing enables you to directly target people who interested in what you have to offer. That means your product, service or message pops-up directly on their device just as they need what you are offering. Now, that is power!
Of course, we can’t scrap traditional marketing methods altogether, and there may be some businesses that can benefit from traditional marketing methods.
